Volatlas

Install and activate

Download for Mac or Windows, enter the licence key, and run the built-in demo chain.

Download

One licence covers macOS and Windows. The download link always serves the current release.

  • /download picks the build for the computer you are on. It reads the platform your browser reports and falls back to the user agent. A browser that reports neither gets the Mac build.
  • /download/mac always serves the macOS disk image, Volatlas.dmg.
  • /download/windows always serves the Windows installer, Volatlas.exe.

The page you land on after checkout carries both buttons and shows your licence key. It shows the key for seven days after the order. After that the page points to the receipt email instead.

Install on macOS

The Mac build is a universal binary, so it runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. It is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

  1. Open Volatlas.dmg.
  2. Drag Volatlas into Applications.
  3. Open it from Applications. Because it is notarized, it opens on the first double-click.

Install on Windows

The Windows build is a 64-bit installer. Windows SmartScreen may stop it on first run, because a new signing certificate has not yet built download reputation.

  1. Run Volatlas.exe.
  2. If SmartScreen shows a blue panel, choose More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Finish the installer and launch Volatlas.

The installer carries the WebView2 bootstrapper. Current Windows 10 and 11 already ship the WebView2 runtime. On a machine without it, the runtime downloads during install.

Activate your copy

On first launch the app shows Activate your copy and nothing else. No section opens until a key is accepted.

  1. Copy the licence key from the purchase email or the checkout page.
  2. Paste it into LICENCE KEY, or press Paste key to read it off the clipboard. If the clipboard holds no licence key, the panel says No licence key on the clipboard.
  3. Press Activate this machine, or press Enter. The button reads Activating… while the check runs.

Activation needs a network connection. The app sends the key and a machine label to the Volatlas licence server and stores the answer next to its settings in the app data directory. The label is made once per computer and kept, so releasing a seat and activating again count as the same machine. The key itself is never shown back in the app. Settings shows only its first and last four characters.

A key activates up to three machines. To move a seat, open Settings on the old machine and press Release this machine. See Licence and updates.

When activation fails

The panel shows the reason under the key field. If it keeps refusing, write to support@volatlas.com with the key you bought.

Working offline

Launch reads the stored answer from disk, so the app opens without a network. After 72 hours it rechecks in the background on the next launch, and nothing waits on that check. After 14 days without a confirmed check, the app shows Check in to keep going. Press Check in once while online to reopen it for another 14 days, or Use a different key to activate with another key.

A failed connection or a server error never removes a stored licence. A refusal that names the key (not found, not active, expired, disabled, wrong product) removes it on the spot. If the system clock moves back to before the last confirmed check, the app also asks for a check in.

Lost the key

Enter the address you bought with. If it matches a purchase, the key goes to the email address on the order. The answer is the same either way.

First backtest on the generated chain

You can run the whole workflow before connecting any data. With no chain loaded, every backtest and sweep runs on a generated chain. It is the same chain every time, 20 sessions of 5-minute bars, starting from a spot of 5,000, strikes 25 points apart with 20 on each side of the money and three expiries ahead. The prices are synthetic and say nothing about any real market.

  1. After activation the app opens on Strategies with the built-in 0DTE iron condor. It sells the 16-delta put and call, buys wings 2% further out, enters daily at 09:35 ET with one contract, and exits at 50% profit, a 200% stop or 15:45 ET.
  2. Open Backtests. The header shows Data as generated chain, and the note says No chain is loaded, so a run uses a generated one.
  3. Press Run backtest. The stat grid, the equity curve and the trade log appear below it.
  4. Change any field under Strategies and run again. Press Save strategy to keep it in the library.

Sweeps works the same way on the generated chain and opens with a profit target by stop loss grid over the same condor.

Next steps

Load real history under Data. Pick Databento to pay per pull with your own key, or Theta Terminal to use a ThetaData subscription. Once a chain is loaded, runs use it instead of the generated one.
