Volatlas

Compared with GreeksLab

A GreeksLab alternative with no tier caps

Volatlas backtests the same 0DTE structures on a desktop engine, where the legs, the exit rules and the grid size are bound by your cores rather than by a plan. Market data comes from your own vendor, so the root list is whatever you buy.

Which to pick

Where Volatlas lands

  • The study reaches past SPX, to XSP, NDX, RUT or a single name.
  • A strategy wants more legs or more exit rules than a tier allows.
  • You sweep parameter grids and want the grid bound by your cores rather than by a plan.
  • Research arrives in bursts and you would rather not pay through the quiet months.
  • You want the trade log, equity curve, stats and sweep grid out as CSV.
  • You already hold a ThetaData or Databento subscription.

Common questions

Switching and setup

Can I bring a GreeksLab strategy across?
There is no import. You rebuild it in Volatlas, which for a 0DTE rule set means the legs, the entry time and frequency, the strike selectors and the exits. An iron condor takes a couple of minutes.
GreeksLab includes the data. Why buy it separately?
Bundled data is the part of a subscription that keeps billing when you are not researching, and it is what fixes the root list at SPX. Buying it yourself means the bill stops between studies and the chain covers whatever your vendor sells.
Which one is cheaper for a single 0DTE question?
GreeksLab, if the question fits inside its free tier or one Premium month and only concerns SPX. Volatlas pays back when the research recurs, when a strategy outgrows the tier caps, or when the study moves to a root GreeksLab does not carry.
What does the data cost on top of the licence?
On Databento a year of 1-minute SPXW quotes runs about $265, plus about $8 of contract definitions, metered and billed to your own account. ThetaData starts at $40 a month for four years of history and is cancel-anytime. The data cost calculator prices your own window on both.
Does the research survive a cancelled data subscription?
Yes. Everything you pull is cached as Parquet on your own disk and replays with no vendor involved. Cancelling costs you new history, not the studies you have already run.
Does Volatlas place trades?
No. You build, test and sweep in Volatlas and trade wherever you already trade.

One engine, every root

A licence bought once, lifetime updates, and a seat that moves between machines from inside the app. The strategy is as complex as the idea needs, and the grid is as wide as your cores allow.
